Communitique
Fashion is financially and environmentally expensive, with disproportionate negative impacts and costs falling on women, ethnic minorities, and economically disadvantaged communities. Through production and shipping, the fashion industry is responsible for about 10% of annual global carbon emissions, and of all produced clothing fiber, over 80% is burned or ends in a landfill. While there is a significant movement towards buying second-hand clothes and accessories, thrifting can be time consuming, challenging for different body sizes and shapes, and even more expensive than buying new items. Communitique is disrupting these negative impacts through our free, virtual, and local clothes swapping application.
